Cook Islands:  Rarotonga and Aitutaki

In September of 2006, we took a trip to the Cook Islands in the south Pacific.  The Cooks are about a ten hour flight from LAX, and about 4 hours northeast of New Zealand. 

About a week before we left, we learned that the Survivor television show had just finished filming a series in Aitutaki, which is where we spent most of of vacation.  Fortunately, there was no sign of them having been there, and all of the islands that were "closed" for their filming were accessible again when we arrived.
