Help secure additional off-lead dog parks in your area!!
(info from Jayme Cross, one of our RMSUV members)
A group in Denver is petitioning for the creation of fenced-in Off-leash play areas for dogs (the city and County of Denver currently has one just outside the Animal Control Facility, The Jason Street Dog Park). Denver needs way more and the Jason Street needs a lot of work to make the field safe for running dogs. The goal of Denver FIDOS is to establish one off-leash play area in each district of Denver. Denver Parks and Rec., the mayors office, several councilpersons and the Department of Environmental Health do NOT believe there is enough public support to retrofit ANY parks in Denver for an off-leash play area. Additionally, the one private off-leash area (National Jewish) was recently threatened by the city to STOP allowing dogs off-leash on their land or they would be fined. That area is now off limits to dogs.
