Vizsla Get Together Part III : Boulder Reservoir

On July 30, 2000 we got the V's together at the Boulder Reservoir for some swimming and playing.  Despite the fact that there was a triathlon at the Res that day which forced the closure of the roads in the area, we still ended up with 13 Vizslas in attendance.

I've added captions for the dogs I could identify, please let me know if you can ID any of the others (or post at the bottom of this page).

These are only about half of the pictures I took that day but please let me know if you are interested in any copies... I would be happy to mail them to you.  (The ones on this page can be identified by their file name.)

Say Hi to Everyone...

Feel free to post your comments or add your email address if you would like to be invited to our next gathering.  (Remember, these gatherings are in Colorado only, not nationwide...)

Hello everyone... I hope you enjoy the pix. My favorites are the shots of flying Louie - all that effort just to catch a few drops of water!!

BTW, if anyone has a suggestion for a name for our Vizsla group, pass it along.  Karen and I were thinking something along the lines of "Rocky Mountain Vizsla Social Club".  If we're gonna continue to have these get-togethers, we may as well name the group....

These pictures are excellent! I agree, Flying Louie is the icing on the cake. You really outdid yourself this time Blayne!! I had an outstanding time and very much appreciate that, as bad as my photos are, you didn't get a full body shot of me in my bathing suit!!! As far as club names go, I like Karen's idea, and think we need to keep the word "Social" in the title, as to avoid being confused with a group that shows dogs. I will throw out another possible name for the vote, though. I once read where they called German Shorthairs the "SUV of Dogs" because they are good all-around hunters, family-oriented and do the things we Front Rangers do like hike & mtn bike. I think Vizslas fit that bill as well and thought I'd float interest in the SUV Social Club -- SUV meaning Sport-Utility Vizsla. For now, we'll call our Park Hill subgroup of 6 dogs (Benjamin, Skylar, Mayzie, Bogey, Louis and Solomon... and we have 3 more we rarely see) the Bark Hill Social Club.

Thanks again for having us up. We're very much looking forward to a repeat minus the Triathalon traffic & road blockages!

Nikki

Blayne, these are great pictures! Yes Louie is quite the talented V, but hats off to the photographer. What a great job you've done, capturing the individual dogs personalities. Calvin reminds me of an aligator, slinking through the water. Hopefully Skylar picked up some more swimming tips from him.

Thanks to you and Karen for planning the swim fest. Nikki, Skylar and I can't wait to return to the Boulder Reservoir.

Fabulous pictures, Blayne!! Benjamin and I had a great time, as usual!! I think it's unusual to have a group of dogs where no one ever fights. V's are awesome! I am anxious to hear about the next versatile Vizsla venue!!!

Names of the group are good, and I love the Bark Hill Group that Nikki named. Very creative!! Benny and I returned to the Reservoir on Thursday for swimming... this time with him sticking his head under water! Especially like the photo of Bailey pointing and Louis in the air! I also got great video of the event, will figure out how to make copies... (first time videographer). -Karen

I haven't been swimming much but love to jump in the shower when the water is running. Hopefully I will meet everyone soon!!

So sorry to have missed the gathering. My V, Katy, and I just moved to the Park Hill area of Denver and would love to meet with some of you sometime. We missed the party because we were backpacking in the Sangre de Cristo Range. Next week we are headed to Wyoming to do some more hiking and backpacking. Katy climbed here first 3 fourteeners this week! Happy trails, Kim

I just had to tell you how much I have enjoyed your pictures. When I was 18 (a long time ago!) moved out of my parents home and got a dog. A vizsla of course! A litter of 3 day old pups were going to be put-down at a vets office because the breeder felt that the color was too light and didn't want that litter to mature. I was the kennel girl in the back room, and I begged the breeder to allow the pups to mature. I promised I'd find homes for the dogs, good homes with people who would have the dogs altered so they wouldn't breed. I found lovely homes for those dogs and took one for myself. He was with me for a very long time. In fact it has been 10 years since he has been gone and I still cry when I think of him. I couldn't bring myself to get another Vizsla because no dog could compare to my 1st dog. Last year I bought a female Redbone pup, and she reminds me of my boy Toven. I got to thinking about him, and put in an internet search for Vizslas, just to see a picture. Thanks for sharing pictures of your kids! Jill.

The pictures are great. Makes us wish that we were in Colorado and not California. Looks like a good time was had by all. Baron said he wishes he could be there to swim and run with all those other Vizsla's, especially "Flying Louie" who looks like his kinda of guy.

Our little girl Chandler turns one on September 11th. Anyone interested in getting together to celebrate on the 9th or 10th? We have not been to a formal gathering, but know several of you. Skylar and Benjamin (I believe) go to The Big Backyard with Chandler and we've met several others at Cherry Creek. Chatfield also has three great swimming holes especially for pups!!

Blayne, the site is great. I really enjoyed the photos!!

Hey guys, I own a GSP, not a Viszla (yet) but I am looking for a good breeder that isn't too far away (I don't want to ship a puppy). Any recomendations? We do a lot of outdoor activity with our GSP and the Viszla would have to be able to keep up, but I don't think that that would be a problem! Once I get a Viszla I might want to be part of this group too, you look like a lot of fun and my husband and I live in Erie, just outside Boulder! Have you not met since September 2000?
